Caldwell The T Habano Review

THE T HABANO REVIEW – CALIFORNIA

Summary:  This vascular stick has a serious gloss-factor to it.  Starting off with tangy barbeque sauce and coffee.  Dark chocolate and pepper show up on the retrohale.  M&Ms.

The flavors are less prominent at the onset of the second third.  Popcorn!  Now I want to smoke this while watching the third season of Dark on Netflix.

Starting the final third, I'm met with something that reminds me of cologne (and yes, I know that's vague).  Maybe a combination of potpourri and ginger?  My palate is getting hot near the end, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the fact that this is my first smoke in a week.  Would smoke again.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Popcorn mixed with M&Ms.

Pairing Suggestion:  Margarita.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Single.

Blind The T Habano Review at Small Batch Cigar

THE T HABANO REVIEW – WISCONSIN

Summary:  This cigar brought flavor notes of chocolate, hay, earth, tea, oak, and molasses. The profile didn't change much for me throughout, though the tea flavors increased and decreased pretty dramatically at times.

Construction-wise, the burn was good. The draw was a bit snug, but not problematic.

I found it generally enjoyable, but it didn't have that 'stand out' or 'wow' factor for me.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Chocolatey Earth.

Pairing Suggestion:  Coffee.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Single.

Blind Cigar Reviews at Small Batch

THE T HABANO REVIEW – OREGON

Summary:  Once again I find myself looking at a Corona Gorda sized cigar which, if you’ve read any of my other reviews or followed me at all, you know I’m a big fan of that size of stick.  The cold draw is full of fresh cut grass and maybe just a hint of baking spice.

Floral notes coupled with a chalky cocoa... there is a bit of mineral base to the mix along with a mixture of dry cedar, baking spices, and a heat I’ll call white pepper/wasabi hybrid.  The retro hale is picking up a little bit of creaminess and the heat in the retro is only medium but is long lasting and really pleasant.  Oh, and A+ smoke production!

Midway point bringing some new players... bread, baking spice, a small amount of graham cracker with a floral background.  Smoke production dropped and there is a sort of bitter chocolate aftertaste.

Headed home and smoke production back up!  Getting some vegetal notes along with cedar, bitter chocolate and mild pepper spice...and a black, unsweetened tea aftertaste.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Finding out an old friend is visiting.

Pairing Suggestion:  5-pack.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Gin and tonic.

Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.

Interesting way of doing cigar reviews. I like it. Though there seems to be a lack of comments, keep it up, I enjoyed them!

Ha! Mr Oregon might have had a 5-pack of Gin & Tonic paired up with his corona-gorda-sized The T. Habano (for which, by the way, all 3 reviewers got me salivating for this cigar).
