Davidoff Cigars Then
Henri Davidoff founded Davidoff Cigars in 1911, starting as a cigar storefront in Geneva. However, it was Henri’s son Zino Davidoff that would later escalate the business to the worldwide recognized brand that it is today. As a young man, he spent time traveling across Central and South America as well as the Carribean, learning everything he could about tobacco from farmers and laborists who were growing the plants. Zino returned during World War II, installing a climate controlled room in the Davidoff shop and storing away Cuban cigars to share with his customers in peacetime. After the war ended, Davidoff Cigars’ reputation grew under Zino’s influence, attracting the likes of celebrities including Elvis Presley, Orson Welles, and King Faraouk of Egypt.
Throughout the rest of the century, Zino would continue to innovate and prioritize quality in his products. In 1989, he famously burned thousands of his cigars because he didn’t think they were up to par. That’s how deep Davidoff’s commitment goes. When you think about the ubiquity of humidifiers, climate controlled cases, and cuban cigars; you can thank Zino and Davidoff cigars.
Davidoff Cigars Now
Zino passed away in 1994, but his legacy lives on in the quality cigars that Davidoff continues to produce to this day. Smoking a Davidoff is all about savoring the experience. You can expect only the finest tobacco when you light up one of their cigars.
It’s not just one single experience you’re after, either. With over 100 years of business, the company has branched out into a massive selection of different lines, flavors, and sizes. You can stick with the surefire Classics, something you can never go wrong with and ensure a perfect cigar smoking experience. However, in the spirit of Zino, you might want to branch out and enthrall yourself with something new to your palette like the Nicaragua series – the brand’s first attempt at using tobacco and methods from the puro territory with a spicy, earthy line of cigars with ratings in the low-to-mid 90s. They also continue to release limited edition cigars, giving connoisseurs another elusive smoke to seek after.
