MAREVA JURE REVIEW – DOM

Summary: The first thought that pops into my mind after puffing on this fat robusto is that it tastes like something I smoked when I was first getting into cigars. Sweet coffee and wood take very safe first steps. An inch in, the wood note begins to taste musty 'n' dusty like a dresser drawer.

While the second half proves to be more enjoyable with sesame seeds and some orange zest, this cigar has a drying effect on my palate that makes me crave something sweet to get the juices flowing. Definitely pair this smoke with a little "something something."

MAREVA JURE REVIEW – RICH

Summary: This cigar brought a lot of cedar, with additional notes of peanut, cream, hay, and lemon. It struck me as sour at times; I wish the cream showed through more in the profile.

No issues with construction. The cigar performed quite well.

MAREVA JURE REVIEW – BEN

Summary: Whoa! What a strong whiff of floral for the opening swing; lavender-y. I like it! Cedar. Sourdough bread. Cinnamon. Leather. And tea leaves in the first half. Super easy to smoke and the notes have me on my toes. While I fancy the direction this cigar is going, I cannot get around its girth. It's simply too fat for my pleasure. Last third runs a little warm and the wrapper starts to burst. Bummer.

MAREVA JURE REVIEW – TED

Summary:  If this is a habano wrapper, it’s the toothiest habano I’ve seen.  Cedar, nutmeg, and a chalky offering of coffee at the start.  Also tasting some walnut, dried apricot, and floral notes. The draw and burn of this cigar are on point.  The retro hale is full of mild wood notes, mixed nuts, and red pepper flake spiciness.

Further in, the profile remains a spicy mixture of cedar, bread, nuts, baking spices, and very mild floral notes. I’ve applied one small burn correction thus far. There is a ton of smoke production happening and the ash is beautifully solid.  Occasionally I’m still tasting that dried apricot flavor coupled with the same chalky coffee note from earlier.

Moving through this final section and the strength of this stick is surprising me a little. The profile is built on heavy wood notes supporting a dry mix of leather, earth, floral and baked bread flavors. There is still some pepper spice remaining too.

Pairing Suggestion: Pendleton Rye

Perceived Strength: Medium+

Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.
