I went to a local brewery and worked with their brewers to find a good beer pairing! They were introducing a 4% English Pub Ale this past weekend, so we sat down with three cigars to try and pair it perfectly. 

The Scoring

• +5 points if the cigar improves
• +5 points if the beer improves
• +0 points if neither improves

We made one change to this syllabus, awarding the beer 2 points for gaining a slight advantage when enjoyed with the cigar. It only seemed fair, even though it didn't receive the full boost you want in a pairing. 

The Cigars

I shot my best shot first, hoping to find a 10 out of 10 pairing with the HVC Hot Cake Connecticut. I've been pairing this with so many things recently (as noted in our Cigar of the Week video) and have been super impressed with its versatility. 

Then, we moved onto other versatile staples like Jake Wyatt's Medium+ bodied Candela expression as well as the Illusione La Grande Classe for a higher octane option.
