It’s been said that social media doesn’t truly represent the large majority of cigar buying habits around the country. That, for the most part, social media is a small sliver of the industry with a significant portion of cigar enthusiasts buying their tried and true cigars each week regardless of the new hotness in the market.
Small Batch is a little bit of a different animal, though, as we exist on the interwebs which naturally encourages research and discussion. This got me wondering:
How much does Social Media influence your cigar habits?
Login and comment below for a chance to win a Small Batch gift card this Sunday!
Personally, I get a lot of my news from Social Media. In addition to knowing what’s new at Small Batch, I also set notifications for manufacturers that I follow so that I can see what they’re up to without waiting for the official press release.
And, without a lounge that’s conveniently nearby, I’d say that I’m influenced quite a bit by social media when it comes to new cigars and what my friends are smoking.
To me, that’s the magic of the cigar industry – it brings people together! And when I see a friend smoking something that I haven’t tried yet, I’m curious about his or her impressions and recommendations in addition to their lives.
Right this moment, I’m smoking a Foundation Tabernacle Havana Seed Ct #142 Double Corona. It’s a monster of a cigar that I normally wouldn’t choose for the cold temps outside, but our very own Brian convinced me to give it a go on social media! For what it’s worth, the original Tabernacle Double Corona was simply amazing in a Double Corona size – just like Melillo predicted – but I still think I prefer the #142 in a Corona size. It isn’t as silky smooth as this Double Corona is but has a little more pop that I’ve come to cherish in the Corona vitola.
