Whether in an online forum or group or inside a cigar lounge, we’re often asked about the most affordable way to buy cigars. In the modern golden era of cigars, here are a few ways to save on your monthly budget so you can get back to doing what you enjoy the most!

1.) Clearance Specials

Easily overlooked, clearance specials are hands down the easiest way to save a few dollars on buying your favorite cigars. Here at Small Batch, we’ve named our clearance section Scotty’s Corner. Everything in this section is eligible for 40% off with the code SCOTTY before checkout. If you don’t see what you’re hoping to find, check back in a couple days. We put cigars on clearance a few times a week!

The hard part is waiting on the cigars you want to hit the clearance section. If waiting isn’t your style, here are some more affordable ways to buy cigars.

2.) Mystery Packs

If what you’re wanting isn’t on clearance because it’s too popular, too new, too expensive, or too rare, a mystery pack might be right up your alley. It’s a bit of a spin and win, but the value is undeniable and every sampler is jam-packed with incredible cigars.

Mystery Samplers are great tools to save money because as a Tobacconist it’s one of the only ways to discount high end cigars. Most luxury brands strongly discourage discounting their cigars because they don’t want the brand devalued. A mystery sampler allows retailers to provide more value without angering any specific brands.

We currently limit our Mystery Samplers to just 40 packs so that we can focus on value and excitement instead of building hundreds or thousands for revenue.  These samplers also ship inside a Boveda Humibag that’s reusuable for life!

3.) Cigar of the Month Clubs

Similar to mystery samplers, Cigar of the Month Clubs are one of the best ways to stretch your dollar as a cigar enthusiast! Not all Clubs are the same, however, and you should do your research to find the best fit for what you enjoy.

At Small Batch, we still have the same limit to our Club membership that we’ve had for years. By keeping the membership small, we’re able to keep going above and beyond with limited-edition, rare, hard to find, and luxury cigars. If I had to guess, I’d say our average $50 Cigar of the Month Club has about an $80 value on any given month – and I’ve seen packages with values north of $100.  

Like Mystery Samplers, you never know what will arrive from our Club memberships, but you can rest assured that you’ll always get bang for your buck. If the Club option that you want is out of stock, please set a back in stock notification (once logged in) and the system will email you as soon as a spot opens up.

4.) Surprise Samplers

I know what you’re thinking: we already talked about these above. Mystery Samplers and Surprise Samplers are very similar, but there are a few differences.

Mystery Samplers are limited to 40 samplers and each cigar was selected before creating the packs. Surprise Samplers, on the other have, have different tiers and aren’t pre-built.

Our Surprise Samplers include options like a Davidoff Surprise Sampler where you set the price and we’ll surprise you, a Big Budget Surprise Sampler that includes 50 random cigars for $100, and tiers from $30 to $100 for you to choose from.

Surprise Samplers were our first attempt at a Cigar of the Month Club and they operate the same way: with value and excitement in mind. The one difference is that these don’t have recurring billing. If you’re waiting on a Club membership to open up, a surprise sampler can be an excellent way to pass the time or supplement an existing membership.

5.) Newsletter Specials
