DOUBLE AGED CONNECTICUT REVIEW – CALIFORNIA
Summary: Opted for a punch and I'm glad I did because the draw is just a tad bit loose. Hay and black pepper. An inch in, and the predominant flavor is simply white pepper.
Starting the second third and my goodness is this ash THICC. There's a slight honey sweetness, but it still remains mostly one dimensional.
I think I'm tasting popcorn in the final third? Baking spices. No qualms for construction, but I like a little more complexity to my smokes.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: Tanning on cement because all the pool chairs have been locked up.
Pairing Suggestion: Coffee with cream and sugar.

DOUBLE AGED CONNECTICUT REVIEW – WISCONSIN
Summary: The cold draw on this cigar gave many indications of things to come - there was almost no resistance at all. It was like holding up a straw and sucking air through it. Uh-oh.
I have to believe the flavors were impacted by the construction, as there was more sourness and bitterness than anyone would choose to have in their cigar. There were also some enjoyable flavor notes: cedar, bread, caramel, light coffee, maple, hay, light pepper. These were overshadowed by sourness.
My hope is that I smoked the occasional poorly-made cigar that comes with the territory of enjoying hand-made products. I see potential in the flavors, but this cigar smoked all kinds of wrong.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: Sipping a caramel latte while you suck air through a straw
Pairing Suggestion: A lighter beer - an ale or wheat beer

DOUBLE AGED CONNECTICUT REVIEW – OREGON
Summary: Honey graham scents from the foot of this cigar. Nice. The cold draw tastes just like straw from the farm field.
Citrusy zest, mild tobacco, a slight tingle of pepper, dry wood, tea, and a very creamy texture to the smoke. That’s a solid start. Also, A+ in the smoke production department.
Midway through and the profile is quite nice. A creamy mix of wood, nuts, leather and hay with the pepper notes disappearing. There’s still an overall citrus quality to the mix as well but it’s well balanced. The retro hale is smooth, warm and carries just a touch of pepper spice in it.
Finishing up relatively the same as the middle. No changes to report. No disappointment either. This would be an outstanding first stick of the day as long as you have 90 minutes on your hands.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: Cigars with classic profiles.
Pairing Suggestion: Coffee with cream in the morning, BFK in the evening.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Box.
Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.
