WARPED CORTO REVIEW – CALIFORNIA
Summary: From the first puff, I'm getting flavors that remind me of a campfire. Chocolate Teddy Grahams and green pepper. There's a creaminess to the mouthfeel that I'm enjoying (phrasing?). I just had a butterfly try land on my shoulder so I'm dubbing this a Snow White Cigar.
Second third features more of that chocolate graham cracker. The strength is ramping up -- sneaky little bugger. Both lighters that I brought out with me ran out of butane with my initial light, but I haven't had to run inside for a third. Coffee with cream.
Hazelnut goodness in the final third! I feel like I'm eating Nutella and sipping Frangelico. Good stuff.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: Ferrero Rocher.
Pairing Suggestion: Coffee.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Fiver.
WARPED CORTO REVIEW – WISCONSIN
Summary: This cigar brings notes of earth, chocolate, pepper, charred meat, hickory, spice, cinnamon, and umami. At times the flavor profile bore a resemblance to BBQ sauce. That flavor combination with a nice spiciness? Sign me up.
There wasn't a single issue in construction - it drew and burned perfectly.
A cigar with great construction and great flavors? Sign me up.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: BBQ.
Pairing Suggestion: Bourbon.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Box.
WARPED CORTO REVIEW – OREGON
Summary: This week’s cigar is a very firmly packed, softly box-pressed Robusto. That is a mouthful. I won’t lie, the firmness of this cigar has me concerned. The wrapper smells like sourdough bread and a hint of barnyard. After clipping the cap, I pull air through the cigar and my worries are confirmed; the draw is tight.
Flame to foot and here we go. Starting with mild tobacco and wood, light floral and notes, underscored by mint. A bit later I’m finding stronger wood flavors along with a long finish of faint mint. I really wish the draw was better. There’s also some baking spice rolling around in the profile as well.
Now in the middle section I am finding that the tight draw is finally wreaking its havoc on the flavors as they become muted and slightly bitter.
Final section and the draw is opening up a little. Lots of wood flavor strong with hickory... like bbq. Smooth notes of fresh baked bread and a sprinkle of baking spice.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: Reclaiming antique barn wood, but having to pull all the nails.
Pairing Suggestion: A sweet profile bourbon.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: 5 pack.
Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.
