Happy Wednesday, folks!
Today’s cigar is one that I’m very fond of for several reasons. Firstly, it’s an incredibly dynamic cigar for under $6! Somehow La Grande Classe Rex still embodies the fundamentals of Dion Giolito and Illusione without compromising an inch on flavor or performance. Secondly, it’s the perfect vitola to enjoy any time of day. The size and affordability of this cigar makes it easy to ditch if something needs your attention – or grab another if your afternoon suddenly opens up.
After lighting, my first few impressions were of salted peanuts and leather. Somehow that gritty combination smoothly transitions into honey grahams, peppercorn, cream, brown sugar, milk chocolate, and vague hints of fruit with a nutty finish.

The Honey Grahams and fruit combinations are really what sold me on this cigar in the first place. Once, I smoked three of these cigars all evening because it was all I really cared to reach for that night. If that isn’t a sign of a match made in heaven, I don’t know what is!
Towards the halfway point, chocolate becomes a little more prevalent and begins to provide more of a Mocha-like experience with a little caramel on the side. So much finesse and class (Classe!?) for such a low MSRP. Dion has always been known for having an excellent palate and being a world-class blender, but with Rex I think we should add Philanthropist to his long list of titles and accolades.
Here’s where I’ll take my leave and soak up a few personal moments of cigar-smoking excellence! I’d love to hear your thoughts on Rex in the comments if you’ve enjoyed them as well.
Cheers to a great rest of your week!
Suggestions
If you haven’t tried La Grande Classe Rex yet, I’d be remiss if I didn’t suggest that you give ‘em a whirl. We have them in-stock at the moment in 10-packs or a bundle of 25, and I was sitting on the waiting list for a while last year after I burned through my first pack.
If you haven’t been introduced to Illusione cigars in general, take a look at some of our Samplers to witness first-hand the awesomeness that is Illusione.
