Cigars That We're Thankful For!

Cigars That We're Thankful For!

This Thanksgiving, we wanted to take a moment and give thanks to the cigars that have fueled countless hours of packing, shipping, and customer service by our team. After a quick poll yesterday, these are the cigars that the Small Batch crew has selected time and again over the last year and represents a short list of our daily rotation.

Zino Davidoff 100th Robusto

Zino Davidoff 100th Robusto

Originally released in 2006, this cigar has become a staple around the office for its gentle, approachable flavor profile and excellent construction. Paired with espresso, one can easily appreciate the sophistication that eleven years imparts to such a cigar.

HVC Cerro Robusto

HVC Cerro Robusto

HVC stands for Havana City and pays homage to owner Reinier Lorenzo’s Cuban childhood. The Cerro is particularly important to Lorenzo as it signifies his hometown.  We find this to be a charming cigar, carefully balancing sweet and spicy tones to keep us engaged.

Dapper La Madrina Robusto

Dapper La Madrina Robusto

If you haven’t discovered Ian Reith and Dapper Cigars yet, it’s about time that you took the plunge! Translating to The Godmother, this cigar fires on all cylinders from start to finish.  It’s especially pleasant to work while you smoke with a cigar that’s more in your face and doesn’t require careful attention to taste the blender’s intent.

Paul Garmirian Symphony 20th Corona Extra

PG Symphony 20th Anniversary

When reaching for a routine smoke, it’s hard to pass up the PG series from the man who literally wrote the book on cigars! The Symphony 20 Corona Extra is a magnificent blend that captures everything you’d expect from a cigar with gourmet boldly printed on the band.

Illusione ~ECCJ~ 20th Corona Gorda

Illusione ECCJ 20th

The ~ECCJ~ was originally blended to commemorate the 15th anniversary of what would go on to be Cigar Journal.  5 years later, Illusione gave us a different size and a different blend in the ~ECCJ~ 20th. Today, this cigar continues to dominate daily cigar choices because of its unparalleled complexity.

Don Pepin Blue Label, for showing me what cigars should taste like back when I started and anything Romacraft for showing me there are great boutique cigars coming out still.

Illusione Rothschild. Great compact smoke that imparts a lot of flavor. You can’t beat the sweetness of the San Andres wrapper.

Mine is the Undercrown Sun Grown.  Straight up tasty and I've smoked several this year.  More than my usual Liga 9 Go-To.

After smoking dozens of brands this year, Arturo Fuente has my vote for most often reached for. From Don Carlos Personal Reserve to more rare Opus X blends, the Fuente brand is always great. Even brands affiliated with them such as Diamond Crown and God of Fire, stand out as above average due to the Dominican Republic origin.

This year I’m thankful for the Viaje 10th Anniversary perfectos. Managed to get a jar of each (white, grey, and black) and they’re spectacular.

I’m thankful for ALL the Roma craft.  Each and every one.

The Padron 1926 #9 Maduro has been my go-to cigar lately. The flavor profile, smoke production, excellent construction and perfect draw make it unbelievably enjoyable each and every time.  I still have a few other sticks in my wheelhouse like the sobremesa short Churchill and the Headley Grange Estupendos. But the Padrons are pretty perfect and hard to pass up. Cheers!

Spring/summer/early fall stick of choice during the warmer weather in Wisconsin! ..... now it’s Tattoo Needles for a few more months. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

There are two cigars that I reached for the most over the past year, and were last years fall releases from Viaje.

The Full Moon and Zombie Bill Hatchet. Both were in my wheelhouse and I smoked through a box of each, plus some!

I will most often grab “the New World.” A.J. makes great cigars. I appreciate the price point on them as well.  Happy Thanksgiving.

Great smoke in its own right and smoking it always brings back tons of fond memories of one of my friends that originally got me into the cigar world. Thanks Mazen! :)

With these samplers (as well with others) I have discovered some different styles, one of them being cigars that use AGANORSA tabacco that I now love. So thank you very much for introducing me to some different styles. Also love your news section. Glad to have have found your online store!

For 2017, I’m thankful for the Drew Estate Undercrown Sungrown, and I’m also thankful flr the Room 101 Hit and Run. Both cigars had great flavor, were very smooth, preformed nicely, and were quite affordable. I plan on smoking many more of these into the future.

I'm thankful for the MUWAT KFC for always being my go to when a new cigar is disappointing or I just can't seem to decide what new SBC delivery I want to smoke.

I'm also thankful for the El Oso Mama that never fails to be smooth and creamy. Just wish it didn't seem to always be OOS. :/

I'm thankful for Tatuaje K222 and the brotherhood of the cigar world. I love this industry.

The Roma craft aquatain line.  My go to stick. Comfy to me like a favorite shirt.  I know what I'm getting and i know I'll love it. I love all the vitolas. But the mode 5 is my go too.  But I also make sure to grab Atlatls whenever they show up!

Illusione, Warped and Caldwell are on top of my list. I’m a big fan of Illusione Original Documents, natural or maduro. I enjoy cg:4, 88 & 888. This year I tried my first Warped products. Maestro del Tiempo 5205, Colmena 44, La Hacienda Superiores & Futuro Selección 109 are all excellent. Caldwell Eastern Standard, Dos Firmas and Midnight Express are also a hit with me.

It’s been a great year.
Happy Holidays
