DIESEL VINTAGE REVIEW – DOM

Summary: Plenty of pepper spice spreads across my palate, but pleasantly not as much can be noticed on the retrohale.  Did I say pepper?  I meant, “someone throw me some eggs because this cigar is a pepper crowd pleaser!”  While the flavors are linear, the smoke coming off the foot adds some pleasant complexity to the smoking experience.

Not listing more than one flavor note usually warrants a single recommendation, but this cigar is solid for what it is, and I’d smoke more.

DIESEL VINTAGE REVIEW – RICH

Summary: This cigar brought notes of earth, cayenne, anise, black pepper, cocoa, and mesquite hickory. An interesting and enjoyable combination for me.

Not a single complaint about construction - the draw and burn were both excellent.

DIESEL VINTAGE REVIEW – BEN

Summary: Major Leather and kind of salty. I really like the vick's vapor rub sensation on the retro; reminds me to take my time. Leather leaned out in the 2nd and here comes dried fruit, sourdough and cinnamon. I really like cinnamon!

Super intimidating dark wrapper but looks can be deceiving; once you make it past the first 5 puffs, you won't be disappointed. Enjoyed the size of this.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: A night cap

Pairing Suggestion: Pinot

Perceived Strength: Medium+

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Box

DIESEL VINTAGE REVIEW – TED

Summary:  This cigar had a nicely crafted pigtail cap.  The wrapper was dark brown with plenty of tooth.

The start featured deep notes of cocoa, rich earth, black coffee, and a decent pepper spice.  I also tasted grilled meat and a mild vegetable note, mimicking green bell pepper.

The middle section was a slightly chalky and smoother mix of cocoa and coffee, mixed with leather, a touch of black pepper and a finish reminding me more of black tea. Occasionally, I was getting an almost minty freshness with a spearmint quality.

The final offerings included amoed up strength overall and a beefy mix of charred wood, black coffee, a slightly bitter vegetal note, just a hint of hickory and some baking chocolate to finish.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: A long evening around a fall campfire

Pairing Suggestion: Coffee, heavy on the cream

Perceived Strength: Medium

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: 5-pack

Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion.
