Happy Tuesday folks! I was chatting with a friend about our personalities as cigars, and it got me wondering.
If YOU were a cigar, what characteristics would you have?
This is also a question that I used to ask a lot of interviewees, but it had a low return rate. I think that, for the most part, people aren’t comfortable with introspection. And that’s ok. It’s kind of a personal question that is awkwardly open-ended. Given the nature of this question, I'll be selecting TWO random comments this weekend to receive gift cards for joining the discussion.
If I were a cigar, I think I’d be a little rough around the edges. Maybe a blemished wrapper series like Steve Saka’s Umbagog. I’d most likely be a cigar that displays no signs of flash or pizazz but showcases an interesting flavor profile once lit. Perhaps I’d be a Churchill, something that takes a bit of gumption and time to hit its stride and make an impression.

Pretty sure I'd be a bandless wonder, something that flies under the radar and is only known in small circles. I’d probably need to be smoked earlier rather than later, as I tend to get saltier with age. In the end, I think most would find that whiskey and I go together like peanut butter and jelly with one immediately complimenting the other.

I’ll be randomly selecting TWO comments below this Sunday before sending out the Weekly Newsletter. The winners can expect a comment with his or her name in it, a congratulations email, and an email with the $25 gift card information. The actual gift card email takes some time to generate from the system and may lag behind by a couple hours.
Only available to U.S. customers.

that has done that for me is the Partagus Serie D #4.
No holds barred punch in the mouth to start that eventually turns into something pleseant if you put in the time
First, the (CC)MC2s are and am overproduced. The high output from the factories leads to draw issues and sometimes being far too tight.
Second, being widely recognized because it used to offer a consistent quality you could expect, the brand and vitola delivered when called upon.
Third, the market has somewhat stabilized and the production issues are lesser than before. (or so I read) The (CC)MC2s are not back to where they used to be, but are slowly coming back around, but have brought attention to the other vitolas that offer great flavors, times, and construction.
Lastly, when you find a great (CC)MC2 with some age on it, it will deliver. It will connect with your heart, with what you seek in a cigar. Slow draws full of flavors and warmth, familiar tones and aromatics, and relaxation that pairs great with a drink.
So my friend, if I were a cigar, I would be one of the most sold cigars in the world, but we would have a great time.
Taste wise, start out with cream/peanuts/graham crackers - transitioning to some hints of berries in the 2nd third and becoming more savory with a bit of earth in the final third.
I'd be a pleasant adventure that plays well with others - as long as the others are a sippable bourbon, or an Islay scotch!
